The uploaded VHD disk is now available in the console of Windows Azure. Make a manual configuration and create a new virtual machine. Create this machine with the setting from gallery.

Choose a VHD Disk, then assign a name to the machine.
I then choose standalone machine and add it to a predefined network where also the domain controller resides in.
Boot up the machine. It takes a few minutes to prepare it. Then you can download the connect.rdp and immediately access your Windows 8 Machine running in the Windows Azure Cloud.
After the image creation was successful you can capture the image on Azure.
